V-day Fun!

Valentine's Day 2012

Aaubre should feel very loved this Valentine's Day!  This pregnant mama and skeptical daddy took her downtown to go ice skating at the newly renovated Galivan Center! Aaubre was 2 at the time so you could imagine what was going through our heads.... you're crazy! she's too little! she'll have so much fun! she'll hate it! you're pregnant! be careful! man is my butt going to be sore tomorrow! haha

She sure showed us! She was a pro walking around in those ice skates, but the real challenge would be when she got onto the ice..... and oh boy was it a challenge! First we tried having her between us, one hand in daddy's, the other in mommy's but that did NOT work.  She was zigzagging all over the place and we moved about 5 inches!  We found out pretty quickly that there was a special technique to family ice skating.  We found what worked best was to support her under her arms, but to make it really work you had to bend over, slowly move forward so she could straighten her feet then.... 1-2-3 push off with your back foot and waah-la! ...but wait, we're not done, then we had to keep the momentum going while trying to "steer"  Aaubre's feet to prevent from going in circles, balance yourself so you don't both fall over, forget about how your back is starting to hurt from bending over (nevermind the fetus in mama's tummy ;-) , smile like your having lots of fun, then really have fun when you hear Aaubre's uncontrollable giggle, feel and enjoy the light breeze on your face because we are actually doing it! ...we are ice skating! Even though Aaubre's feet are about foot ahead of the rest of her, we managed to ICE SKATE a few laps around the arena! WooHoo! It was lots of fun!
