Snowed in?!!!

Christmas this year was pretty chill. We originally planned to spend Christmas in IL with family but those plans fell through so Aaron and I kept each other company on Christmas eve and just stayed at home. To follow family traditions, we both got open one gift and later cuddled up and watched miracle on 34th street.
I can't believe how much snow we woke up to!! WOW! After opening gifts and having Christmas breakfast (yummy cinnamon rolls - we knew we would be eating a tun later with family so we kept it simple :) we got ready, hopped in the car and hoped for the best.... dang it! our car didn't even make it out of the driveway! *lol* We got stuck. Nothing had been plowed yet so everyone trying to make it out of there had a heck of a time.... there was a car in the middle of the road down to the right of us that was stuck and above us was was a car that kept slipping down the hill and stopped to shovel every so often to inch his way up. We didn't think we would have any luck getting out of there especially since it took Aaron about an hour just trying to get our car unstuck and back into the garage. I was getting a little bummed that we would have to spend all Christmas day by ourselves w/no yummy holiday feast and no family but we ended up calling my dad and he came to our rescue!!! Per my step-mom, Ronnie, he was up for an adventure! He grew up on the east side by big cottonwood canyon and so he had a pretty good idea about how much snow we might have gotten and couldn't wait to be young again and play in it ;o) It took him about an hour to get here and OH MAN... it was no joke! He really was up for an adventure!! He drove like the roads weren't packed with snow at all... he was invincible and nothing would stand in his way! haha We made it up the hill headed towards the exit out of our town home community and 3 cars were stuck there blocking our way, including a bobcat on tracks that had just started helping clear some of the snow. Did we patiently wait for it to clear? No way, my dad backed down the hill and went out another. It was a crazy drive but we did make it to his house in one piece and was able to celebrate Christmas w/family so I'm definitely thankful for that. Later we all watched a Christmas movie while Ronnie, Mindy and I scrap booked too.
Aaron and I stayed the night and my dad took us back home around one the next day. We had to wait for workers from the city to arrive at his house before we left.... my dad noticed that a water main had broken when he was out shoveling the snow that morning. Luckily the city will cover it all and will finish the repair to the part of their driveway they had to demo to get to the break. All in all we had a great Christmas!
